Full Renovation in Massey

We completed a full transformation of this beautiful 1950’s character home in Massey west Auckland. Having just completed another full renovation we were delighted to hear from the owners at this address. The owners were related to our customers we had just finished working with and impressed with the renovation we completed for their family. The house was due for a facelift and it was having a few issues such as damp in the basement and leaking from the join in the conservatory roof.
We made our inspection of the home and the issues they were facing with the building. We discussed design options and we put together a quote which included solutions for the issue of the damp basement and the leaking roof.
The Kitchen
To redesign the kitchen space we removed a wall completely to create an open plan kitchen, living and dining room. The fireplace was taken out and replaced with a modern heatpump. The client selected a white kitchen cabinet with embossed and recessed handles. The kitchen contains soft close hinges and drawers with pull out storage baskets. The bench is made from engineered stone in sparkly white with an undermount single sink. Parmco appliances were opted for and a feature textured tile selected.
The Bathroom
For the bathroom the client opted for an acrylic shower tray with frameless glass shower cubical and black fittings. The client chose the vanity, mixer, shower slider, towel rail all in black. The character of the wood floor was accented by the sleek wall mounted vanity, designer fittings and embossed tile. The toilet remained in a separate room as it was the only bathroom for the property.
Throughout the home we replaced the carpet with a neutral matching option. We sanded back the beautiful character Matai flooring which was previously covered under vinyl and carpet. The entire house was repainted with a matching neutral colour scheme and the texture was removed from the ceilings throughout. The hot water cylinder was removed from the kitchen and installed in the basement.
Damp in the Basement
The basement had been damaged by water, both rising damp and water which ran down the driveway and soaked into the building. The Gibb and cladding had to be taken back and repaired and waterproofing applied to the whole basement area. A drainage channel was installed outside the wall of the basement to divert the water which overflowed down the driveway.
The Final Result
When you take a look at the before and after pics of the property you will see why we are so proud of what our team achieved. There were a number of very involved additional issues that popped up throughout the build as is often the case with renovating an older home. Despite this our completion was only 2 days over the estimated schedule we had set. The project took 4 weeks and 2 days from beginning to completion and this is what our client had to say.

Testimonial
“Tim and I just want to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping both our families with their homes. We are very happy with the jobs you and your team have provided. Even though we had to leave NZ early, we were not worried because we knew everything was in great hands. Thank you for making this stress free and easy for us! When we have other properties in need of fixing up, we will not look else where!”
