From clunky and compact to open, stylish, and bright: MTP project manages upgrade ofWest Auckland kitchen

Before Jessica and Bryan met Grant Narbey from Maintain toProfit Renovations (MTP) Auckland West, their Hobsonville kitchen was looking tired, and the layout wasn’t functional. Their appliances and fittings needed a revamp, and with limited bench space, it was easy for their countertops to feel cluttered.

 

Creating a more functional space and seamless flow.

Jessica and Bryan needed a solution to their kitchen’s clunky setup. Their oven and stovetop were separate, and their dishwasher wasn’t close to the sink. In short, the space wasn’t ergonomic or intuitive.

Now – thanks to smart kitchen design from MTP – where there was once a wall with an oven tower, there’s now a breakfast bar. MTP’s expert contractors demolished the wall and installed the new oven below their new Smeg gas stove – while specialist installers fitted downdraft ventilation.

Jessica says their kitchen is much brighter. With the wall removed, it’s more open plan making it easier to talk to guests in the living room while she or Bryan are in the kitchen. Plus, they have extra bench space and storage.

“It's much better than before. Now we have a breakfast bar and the stove with the oven below is convenient. We have a new stove, new dishwasher. The dishwasher used to be on the other side of the kitchen, but now it’s near to the basin.” Jessica

 

A versatile bright and modern kitchen.

It’s not all about function – look smatter too. After discussions with Grant, Jessica and Bryan chose versatile and neutral colours like Cardrona White kitchen cabinets, and beautiful robust materials like solid rimu shelving. Their drawers and doors are soft-close and look modern and fresh.

We replaced their previous benchtop with engineered stone with matching stone trim. We also took care of the details by helping them select the slender profile of Archant Siena Handles, upgraded their doors in Laser Edge Acrylic Alabaster (which is highly fingerprint resistant) and added LeMans corner extension trays to boost available storage space.

MTP thinks of everything – with their new wine rack extension, Jessica and Bryan won’t run out of space for an award-winning red or summery white; plus their handy pull-out spice rack has everything they need to make preparing flavourful meals easy.

 

 

Mindful of client concerns and overcoming setbacks.

Nearly every building project has its setbacks and Jessica and Bryan’s place was no exception. We’ve packed a lot of functionality into a small space – a downdraft, built-in water filter, waste master and more, and this affected the available space for a pull-out bin. We overcame this challenge by working with the manufacturers, and specialist installers to create a solution our clients were happy with.
